Email setup and WildApricotWild Apricot does not include email hosting services - we do not want to reinvent the wheel. There are many great free or very cheap email hosting services you can use together with your Wild Apricot account. In a nutshell this is done by setting up your web domain so that Wild Apricot takes care of your website (www.<yourdomain.org> - see Custom domain setup) while all your emails <anything>@<yourdomain.org> are handled by any email service. One of the best - and free! - email services is offered by Google. Many people have been using Google's Gmail for a while (which looks like <name>@gmail.com) but now Google also offers a free email service on your own domain (<anything>@<yourowndomain.org>) (The reliability, spam filtering and other characteristics of this email service are probably better than the ones thrown in by your ISP or included in your current web hosting package!). Google's email can be used with any regular email software using POP3 protocol (like Microsoft Outlook) - or accessed online or on many cell phones. Signing up for a Standard Edition http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new takes 3 steps:
After you complete the steps above, Google Apps for your domain is activated and you will see the Dashboard page.
Some details to take into account when using WildApricot & Google Apps:If your WildApricot account uses your custom domain name and you use Google Apps to handle email, make sure to properly setup domain's SPF record.
