Uploading and sharing large files with Box.net

On its own, Wild Apricot has built-in functionality to store documents and any other files so that you can provide them for your members and general public. (See Inserting documents). Size of individual files is limited according to your subscription plan: from 2MB for free plans up to 25MB for 'Enterprise', see pricing.
This page describes how you can extend Wild Apricot with a third-party online storage service Box.Net - which is more convenient if you need to manage many files and/or larger files. There are many similar services which can integrated in the same way.
Box.net online storage service enables you to save, browse, share and retrieve files, photos, and other documents directly from your website. From your Wild Apricot site you can either link directly to an individual file / folder, or you can use a widget that will display the file directory on your Wild Apricot page.

To share files on Box.net follow these steps:

  • Go to box.net and open an account (or login into your existing Box.net account if you already have one).
  • (Skip this step if you already have uploaded your documents) In your Box.net account go to MyFiles and create a new folder. Upload your documents into this folder.
  • The files can be linked to your members in two ways.

1. Directly - Right click on a file / folder and get a direct link to it:

2. Through widget - Right click on folder and get widget code:

Now embed the widget code into a page in Wild Apricot, see Inserting HTML or Javascript

Other Box.net file types can be linked similarly.

Here is how it can look in Wild Apricot:
